Me and my silver group went on the Silver Practice Expedition which is equivalent to the actual Bronze Expedition, as we couldn’t attend the actual expedition as one of our members would be on holiday when it was taking place. On the expedition that we did, we walked as a group, with some supervision at different points, for 7 miles. We had to make our way to the campsite through woods, hills and sometimes water.
When we reached our destination, me and my sister set up our tent using communication and teamwork skills. We eventually cooked hot dogs as our main meal, also using teamwork skills. We slept overnight, which was difficult at times, as the weather made it hard to sleep.
The next day, we packed up our things and walked another 7 miles back to the bus. Unfortunately, we did get lost on this part of the expedition but we eventually found our way by backtracking and even asking for help at one point. This terrain was easier to walk through, as there was much less hills to climb and more fields to walk through.
Overall, I did find the experience enjoyable, although it was difficult at times. I learnt useful skills such as setting up a tent, cooking, communication skills and teamwork.
